Nathan Waddell - Head Coach

Nathan is the Owner and Head Coaching Director of Superior Tennis Academy. He is a qualified level 3 Master Professional Coach with the Australian Tennis Professional Coaching Assosication (ATPCA) and is also an accredited Club Professional Coach with Tennis Australia.

Nathan has been involved with tennis from 9 years of age, growing up and playing the local fixtures competition and playing local tournaments. Even today Nathan is active in the Tennis community as he still plays at the highest level Adult competition on the Gold Coast and is also competing in the major 35 and over National Seniors Tournaments within Australia.

In 2013 he was recognised for his fantastic work with local junior players when he was awarded the 2013 Tennis Gold Coast Coach of the Year. Nathan was also nominated again for Tennis Gold Coast Coach of the Year in 2014.

In 2016, Nathan and his mixed doubles partner won their way through qualifying for Tennis Australia’s ‘Win a Wildcard’ event at the Australian Open. He is very passionate about the growth and development of all of his players as well as Tennis on the Gold Coast.


John Buckle - Assistant Coach

John buckle first picked up a tennis racquet at the age of 3 on his parents court and instantly fell in love with the game of tennis.

John first played competitively by the age of 8, playing in various junior tournaments in and around in his hometown of Toowoomba. By the age of 12, John was playing regular fixtures matches against players very much his senior.

In his later years as a junior John became interested in the coaching side of tennis. John had an epiphany that coaching tennis is his true calling in life and that he wants to give back by coaching your children.

Since gaining his accreditation as a Level 1 ATPCA qualified coach, john has gone from strength to strength. It’s with this zest for coaching and love of tennis that John will be guiding STA kids for years to come.


Kate Ogawa - Assistant Coach

Kate comes to Superior Tennis Academy with several years knowledge as a tennis player and more recently as an accredited Level 1 Tennis Coach.

Coach Kate will be delivering our Kindy Kids program to local kindergartens.

One of her many strengths is her ability to speak many languages. Proficient in Japanese and Portuguese through her travels abroad. Kate is also a regular player of adult competition and tournaments within Australia.
